Description
Agastache, commonly called anise hyssop, is a perennial plant that belongs to the labiate family. This plant is very popular with bees, bumblebees and butterflies. The colour of its flowers is usually blue-purple, but other varieties exist too. It blooms from June to October.

History
Agastache originates from North America. Its first seeds were brought to the Netherlands in the 18th century.

Use
The leaves of the Agastache are very suitable for consumption. You can use them in salads and soups or make tea with them. The leaves are also used in cakes, bread, gingercake and pancakes. Concentrated syrup made from the Agastache is also very tasty.
The flowers can be used for decorating salads or pasta dishes.

Taste
The leaves smell of liquorice and have a sweet anise taste.
